COVID-19 Response: Collaboration in Crisis

As the landscape braces itself for the COVID-19 pandemic, GZT is working with Ewaso Lions and Maliasili as founding partners to support the Communities Health Africa Trust (CHAT), with growing potential support from other local organisations concerned about the crisis. CHAT is a grassroots mobile clinic which has a network of Community-Own Resource Persons (CORPs) across northern Kenya, and works closely with county and national government. These are trusted members of communities who are trained to deliver family planning with healthcare awareness and interventions. Supplies including infrared thermometers, hand sanitizer, soap, water containers and COVID-19 government protocol flyers, will be delivered to each CORPs to enable them to prepare their communities to have the best possible chance of minimizing the spread of the virus. By monitoring temperatures of those who get sick, the CORPs can mobilize local healthcare services that have been set up to receive and treat COVID-19 patients. To help support CHAT’s work and help the communities of northern Kenya cope with COVID-19, you can donate to CHAT here.
